Revisiting Sloterdijk’s Out of the World: Freedom in an Age of Withdrawal?
In this light, we can grasp the core of Sloterdijk’s philosophical anthropology, which is that humans increasingly live “out of the world”, giving rise to a sort of existential malaise. This is a sickness different from that identified by modern philosophers in the vein of Kant, with their incessant emphasis on freedom as autonomy.
