A Delayed Ideology: Positivism and the Roots of Technocratic Reason
For a political subject born in Western Europe in the 1990s, the main political scene is one where technocratic parties present themselves as the reasonable “golden means” or “middle ground” between extremist forces supposedly united by their anti-system approach. Yet the ability of the extreme-center to redefine politics as a struggle between a center and various extremes is far from a twentieth-century innovation.
