Role of the assistant editors:

RevDem is looking for assistant editors to work closely with the editors of various RevDem sections, and to contribute to interviews, podcasts, op-eds, essays, and book reviews.

Specifically, the assistant editors will be expected to:

– Work with the editors, supporting and advising on their work;

– Help with transcription of conducted interviews;

– Possibility to help organize virtual events;

– Monitor relevant issues, research trends and new publications related to democracy;

– In cooperation with and under the mentorship of RevDem editors prepare articles and interviews of relevant subjects, and submit them for publication;

– Monitor and occasionally write reviews on relevant quality publications related to democracy;

– For native English speakers: help with language checks and copy editing.

This is an unpaid, voluntary position with no fixed workload, based on availability. Assistant editors are welcome to participate in training opportunities provided by the CEU Democracy Institute. Working at RevDem will help candidates to get experience and contribute to the work of an online academic journal, participate at weekly editorial meetings and suggest new content, learn to conduct high-level interviews, and improve their skills on writing critical book reviews and op-eds. They will also have the possibility to expand their own research interests and geographical expertise and help organize events.
